Oban

Oban is a resort town within the Argyll and Bute council area of Scotland. Despite its small size, it is the largest town between Helensburgh and Fort William. During the tourist season, the town can have a temporary population of up to over 24,000 people. Oban occupies a setting in the Firth of Lorn.

Oban Marina is situated opposite Oban on the island of Kerrera and is conveniently located for vessels on passage or cruising the West Coast. The Marina can cater for a wide range of leisure vessels whether you are a short or long-stay visitor or looking for something more permanent. Repair and maintenance facilities are also available.

When arriving to Oban by boat the first thing you may see is McCaig's Tower, built sometime between 1897 and 1902 when the main architect John Stuart McCaig passed aqay from a cardiac arrest it was designed by McCaig as a everlasting gift to his family but after his death construction halted with only the outer walls complete. His will included £1,000 per year to be used to maintain the structure The structure has been a Grade B Listed historic monument since 1971.
